ABOUT SMILES ON ROUTE

A Personal Approach To Dental Hygiene

Meet Nicolena

Nicolena is a Registered Restorative Dental Hygienist with over 16 years of experience providing preventative, patient-focused oral health care.

Throughout her career, she has worked with clients of all ages and needs, building a reputation for her calm approach, attention to detail, and commitment to creating a comfortable experience at every appointment.

Her passion for mobile dental hygiene is rooted in personal experience. Watching close family members navigate health challenges and mobility limitations made it clear that traditional dental settings do not work for everyone. Nicolena saw a need for care that was more accessible, flexible, and human, and Smiles on Route was created to meet that need.

Today, Nicolena provides in-home dental hygiene services designed for seniors, individuals with mobility challenges, and clients who benefit from a sensory-aware, unrushed environment. She believes oral health care should never feel rushed or intimidating, and every visit is approached with patience, respect, and genuine care.

Nicolena is licensed with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario and continues to pursue ongoing education to ensure her patients receive safe, evidence-based care they can feel confident in.

Our Approach

Appointments are unrushed, patient-led, and thoughtfully adapted to each person’s comfort level, pace, and environment. By providing care in the home, Nicolena is able to create a calmer experience that supports both physical accessibility and emotional ease.

This approach is especially suited for:

  • Seniors who prefer or require in-home care

  • Individuals with mobility challenges or chronic health conditions

  • Neurodivergent and sensory-sensitive clients

  • Busy families looking for flexible, preventative care

  • Caregivers supporting loved ones at home

Every visit is guided by respect, clear communication, and a focus on long-term oral health. The goal is not just to provide dental hygiene services, but to create an experience where clients feel heard, comfortable, and confident in their care.

At Smiles on Route, care is built around the individual, not a schedule.

In-Home Care Explained

Professional dental hygiene care, provided safely and comfortably in your home.

All appointments take place in your home, where care can be delivered in a familiar, low-stress environment.

Nicolena brings the necessary equipment and sets up in a comfortable space, such as a living room or bedroom, ensuring a smooth and professional experience without the need to travel to a clinic.

This approach is especially beneficial for seniors, children, neurodivergent clients, and individuals with mobility or health-related challenges who may find traditional dental settings overwhelming.

The focus is always on comfort, safety and personalized care, while maintaining the same professional standards you would expect in a clinical setting.
